Cosmetic Dentist Toronto

An Interview on Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic, Implant and General Dentist Toronto - West Toronto

What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is a procedure which improves the appearance of the patient and his/her smile.

How important is your smile?
I think the smile is the patient s calling card so to speak but it is up the patient to decide how important it is to them.

How quickly will I be able to complete my cosmetic dentistry treatment?
That depends on how extensive the treatment is.

What are some examples of cosmetic dentistry procedures?
Typical examples of cosmetic dentistry are porcelain veneers and crowns.

How has technology improved cosmetic dentistry?

Technology has made an immense progress in the field of cosmetic dentistry.

Why would someone need or be interested in cosmetic dentistry?
It is an elective procedure, people do not need it but may desire it.

Is cosmetic dental work expensive?
That depends on the definition of expensive.

How long will my new smile last?
That depends primarily on how well you will look after it.

What can be done for excessive gum tissue?
Excessive gum tissue can be surgically adjusted.

What is bonding and how is it different from a veneer?
The word bonding actually refers to the procedure of attaching the dental materials to the patient s teeth, however is often loosely applied to the procedures where the dental materials are applied to the patient s teeth directly in the dentist s office without the need of impressions, multiple appointments and laboratory work. It may sound attractive but is very time consuming in the chair and not necessarily less costly.

Is there a difference in quality among various types of veneers and crowns?
Yes, there certainly is.

Will people notice that I had this procedure done?
If there is a significant difference in your appearance they probably will.

Is cosmetic dentistry worth the time and the cost?
Only the recipient of the service can answer that question as it is an elective procedure rather than a necessary treatment.

What about my dental insurance? Will it cover this?
It depends on whether there is a restorative aspect to the treatment and the cosmetic result is just a side effect or whether it is purely cosmetic. In the first case it may be covered in the latter case it is unlikely.

How can cosmetic dentistry change my life?
Change of appearance and the change of smile may do that for the person.

Who is a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry?

Anybody is a good candidate for the procedure.

How natural will my cosmetic dentist make my teeth look?

That depends on two factors, first of all how natural you want it to be { some patients just want it white whether it is natural or not} and secondly on how good he or she is at it.
